Brevard Beach Communities made the list of the top 30 safest places to live in Florida was recently compiled by Alarm System Reviews, which used data from the FBI’s latest annual Uniform Crime Report.

Several Brevard County beachside communities made the list, including Melbourne Beach (13th), Satellite Beach (20th), and Indian Harbour Beach (27th). The study gives the same key facts for the communities, including property crime rates and violent crime rates.   As a result of the study, the highest-ranking safest town to live in the state of Florida is Indian River Shores,  located north of Vero Beach between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean.  Furthermore, the Indian Harbour Beach has no reported violent crimes and only 12 property crimes for the year. Indian River Shores is one of the highest per capita locations in Florida (the median household income is over $110,729, which is more than double that of the national median).

Because the top 30 report is cities and towns with populations of 2,500, some communities with low crime rates may not appear on the list.

Melbourne Beach

Also on the list of safest Brevard communities is, Melbourne Beach made number 13.  The report included these stats: Population: 3,145; Violent Crime Rates (per 1,000): 0.3; Property Crime Rates (per 1,000): 11.8.

Satellite Beach

Another Brevard town to make the list is Satellite Beach, ranked number 20. Satellite Beach is a barrier island bordered by the Indian River and the Atlantic Ocean. It is part of the South Beaches, and offers both ocean and river frontage. While the town of Satellite Beach has the largest beach side in the county is has more than 7.7 miles of shoreline.

Another important fact for Satellite Beach include: Population: 10,384; Violent Crime Rates (per 1,000): 1.2; Property Crime Rates (per 1,000): 13.1.

Indian Harbour Beach

Indian Harbour Beach, ranked number 27 on the list, it is the only community along the United States’ East Coast to be listed as an NOAA Tsunami Ready community.   The report for Indian Harbour Beach includes: Population: 8,308; Violent Crime Rates (per 1,000): 0.6; Property Crime Rates (per 1,000): 15.4.
